A blog post by the developers gives a little more information on the Titan and Garuda specifically, as well as their Dominants - the people who control them, who are also featured in the trailer. There are eight of them here: Phoenix, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Shiva, Odin, Bahamut, and Ifrit. The trailer introduces us to the Eikons, which is the in-universe term for the summons that will clash on the battlefield as war breaks out. This one's for showing off the summons and giving it a release window of summer next year. Was instant cast with a 3 second recast.Ĭost 10 Faerie Gauge to use, and Eos would periodically drain the Faerie Gauge by 10 while summoned.Final Fantasy XVI has released another trailer. Gust potency reduced to 30, now dealt damage in a 5y radius around target.Īdded as a Scholar exclusive ability, summoning Eos. Eos was now summoned by the Summon Eos ability. Recast time shared with Summon II and Summon III. During AoE encounters Summoners may also have wished to swap out Garuda-Egi for Titan-Egi for Egi Assault II, as Titan-Egi's Mountain Buster provided superior DPS to Garuda-Egi's Slipstream, before rapidly switching back to Garuda-Egi for its better overall DPS.Īdded as a spell with a 6s cast time, 2.5s recast, and 20% base MP cost. While in most situations players would call upon their summon of choice before battle and not need to change it, the ability to switch summons on the fly could prove useful in certain situations, such as switching to Garuda-Egi during the add phase of a boss encounter and switching back to Ifrit-Egi once the phase was complete.
It did however share its 3 second recast with Summon II and Summon III. This allowed players to weave it between global cooldowns after using instant cast spells such as Bio or Egi Assault. Summon was an instant cast ability that was off the global cooldown. For Summoners, Garuda-Egi was best used when facing 3 or more targets, as Ifrit-Egi provided better output against one or two targets. For Arcanists, Emerald Carbuncle was their only source of area of effect damage until they reached level 30, and was also their best single-target damage summon as their only other option was the defense-oriented Topaz Carbuncle. While they benefited from their owner's Maim and Mend traits, they also had a hidden trait that lowered their damage by 20%.Įmerald Carbuncle and Garuda-Egi specialized in area of effect damage. Summoner pets had mostly the same attributes as their owner, but did not benefit from their owner's racial modifiers or the party bonus, and their job Intelligence modifier was 100 rather than the Arcanist's 105 or Summoner's 115. Egi Glamours aside, the only way to truly summon Emerald Carbuncle again was to unequip the Soul of the Summoner and revert to an Arcanist, which had no purpose beyond self-induced challenges. Even should a Summoner have been synced below level 45, so long as they had completed the quest Summon would continue calling Garuda-Egi, complete with the increased potency of its actions. Summon and Summon II were unique in that once Summoners upgraded their Carbuncles to Egis, these upgrades were permanent and applied when level synced. Once a Summoner had completed the quest battle in the level 45 quest Austerities of Wind, Garuda-Egi would replace Emerald Carbuncle.
